Home      Who I Am      About Rachael Walton

I have over 26 years research experience gained in market research agencies. I started my career back in 1991 after graduating from Middlesex University with a degree in Social Sciences, majoring in Psychology. I have worked for key agencies including Discovery, Pegram Walters (now Synovate), Millward Brown, Skyrocket and ideas+visions.

I began my career as a quantitative researcher but I soon focussed on qualitative research, often with an international angle. Over time, I have worked across many different sectors including telecommunications, FMCG, automotive, tourism and retail.

After a stint travelling abroad which included voluntary work in Peru, I became interested in the whole concept of Responsible Tourism. I undertook a part-time MSc in Responsible Tourism Management at Leeds Metropolitan University and obtained a Merit. I have been the co-owner of a B&B in the Snowdonia National Park which gained the prestigious Green Tourism Gold Award. I have a published article in Progress for Responsible Tourism, Volume 3(1) April 2014, Professor Harold Goodwin, Dr. Xavier Font, Rachael Walton. International Centre for Responsible Tourism, ICRT. A Delphi study undertaken to elicit views from professionals engaged in tourism development about the factors which are key to success or failure of donor funded tourism projects.

l am a full member of the Market Research Society (CMRS), a member of the Association for Qualitative Research and part of the Independent Consultants Group (ICG).
